[According to the Secretariat of WAAMA]The World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (WAAMA) held the 3rd meeting of the 4th executive council in Mercure Serpong Alarm Sutera Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia on June 5, 2017. Leaders of WAAMA attending meeting are: President Zhang Hongli; Vice Presidents Ronnie Chong; Secretary General Wang Chaocai; Executive members Alexsander K. Taslim and Wong Hoon WAN; Executive members Nip Tin Sing and Lisa Wang separately entrusted one person to be present at the meeting the meeting. At the meeting, Chairman Zhang Hongli made a speech on the work objectives and work direction. He stressed that we would use the three key words of "Open, Popularity and Energy" to guide our future work. Secretary General Wang Chaocai reported the work since the second meeting of the 4th Council.
On June 6, some of the delegates visited Sempoa SIP Indonesia. Mr. Alexsander K. Taslim, President of Sempoa SIP Indonesia together with his wife warmly received them. The delegates watched the performance of the training center's students and held talks with the teachers. At the symposium, Mr. Wang Chaocai, Secretary-General briefed the local teachers on the status of Chinese Zhusuan inscribing in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the present situation of Chinese abacus and mental arithmetic education development and thanked them for their efforts to promote the popularity of abacus and mental arithmetic.
It is reported that the 3rd Council Meeting and experience exchange meeting are scheduled to hold at the same time in November of this year. The venue is tentatively in Shanghai or Xiamen. The meeting will discuss related matters both on the general election and the way and method of the 7th competition of abacus and mental arithmetic. The achievement introduction of abacus and mental arithmetic study and the teaching experience exchange will be organized during the meeting. WAAMA tentatively plans to hold the General Assembly of WAAMA in July or August, 2018 in Indonesia, and the 7th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic will be conducted in the same time.
